Much like fitness and home improvement phases, I will also go through reading phases, where I must read any chance I get, it is most often naturally sparked off by a really great book I stumble upon, then I have my reading bug back and want to read tons of great books. If you looked at my life overall, it would appear balanced, if I could only do all these things a little bit of the time, instead of one thing all of the time.
With that said, I keep feeling the itch to read this book.

I saw her interview on Rock Center, which you can see here. I felt very connected to A LOT of what she had to say, I agreed with much of it but I also thought I could learn some new things, especially regarding balance. I did cringe when she mentioned being "submissive" in her home. I would rather be the CEO of my home. I want to run it and I think in a way that was what she meant but she viewed running her home, more as serving the people in it. Which, yes, of course that's what a "woman of the house" does but that doesn't mean you are submissive, in any sense of the word. There is no way I am not voicing my opinion. No way, no how. The media, in natural media instinct, had to catch her on the one controversial statement she made and run with it.
Anyway, I ordered this immediately following the Rock Center interview, but I was way too into my DIY home improvement stage, so I have yet to pick it up and read it. I will start it this weekend and then I will let you know what I thought about it. Not in some book critic way, but in a Mom and Stepmom with 4 kids, a husband with a wild, brilliant, fun and risk taking career, a wannabe athlete runner and Pure Barre addict, who is trying to find the balance. Maybe it will help guide me towards more balance, maybe it won't, but I will be sure to let you know!
